Today we had a visit from Birgit. How wonderful it was to have her love present here. She took mother to Roche Harbor for lunch which she thoroughly enjoyed. Then they went to the art fair in town. Birgit can tell you all more about all that. I made cream spinach fresh from the garden and pancakes for dinner after having spent a few hours packing and checking provisions on the boat.

Mother is struggling a bit more now. The drug regimen still works fine but she is starting to complain that she aches all over and that walking and moving seems to be getting harder. This could be just muscle atrephication and stiffness as a result of her sedentary existence now or it could be a progression of tumor growth. Since mother's pain threshold is like and on off switch its also hard to gauge if its "discomfort" as she always calls it or real pain. I expect that since it penetrates the vicadin in her system it probably real pain.

Regardless, we had one more special day in paradise. It was sunny and clear, warm and very summery today. Mother awoke with the sun streaming onto her bed after a good nights sleep. After a full day of activities she insisted this evening to accompany Birgit to the ferry so she could spend as much time as possible with her while she was waiting in line. When we got home, I was bushed but mother still wanted to head off to colors... so we did. I got my badly needed walk in so I am thankful that she insisted.   Now we do the quasha before we are off to bed.

On a beam of Light,
Thomas

Hello all:

Thank you Thomas for your fastidiousness in your updates and keeping everyone informed. You do it in such a factual, yet loving way. I decided that Tom and mother might need some diversion that's why I thought it is important to be there for them. We never know and every moment is precious.

Mother and I had a wonderful time. I cherish these moments we have together. The island was full of music yesterday and I had nothing to do with it;-) They had an Arts Festival near the courthouse.. and I saw Cynthia and Gordon taking a drum out of the car.  Then I got to mother and Thomas and they just finished breakfast. I thought it might be nice for mother to see them so I suggested going to the festival.. we went there first but we got there kind of late... they had already performed. Since it is hard for mother to walk far these days... we decided not to get out but take our favorite road *( the long way ) around the island to Roche Harbor for lunch. We had the usual clam chowder and fish and chips... and mother even ate a little bit of fish (with the batter removed) and lots of chips:. mother had fun watching people as always, on the way back a kind man offered to watch mother while i got the car a little closer... then we went around the middle way one more time.. mother said she needed some lighter pants so I stopped in town to look, but nothing her size- color. Tom tells me she has plenty at home. anyways;-) we took a little nap, then I played some new tunes for mother Sonja and Laiha I have lots of new wonderful tunes, wondering what I have sent you already. then I played some of my German folk songs.. lorelei and Happy wanderer and mother sang with me. ;-) what a wonderful moment. we had Tom's pfannkuchen and spinat for dinner... then off to the ferry.

I saw the deer in the picture on the way out to the car... they visit especially around dinner time. then mother and tom joined me at the ferry line up.. mother kept saying "thank you, thank you, thank you and " I love you " all the time ( while riding around the island too ) (  i can be frivolous with gas and time and Tom is a little more serious about it. anyways :-) it was a glorious ride home on the ferry and by car... beautiful weather, you could see the mountain ranges from the cascades to the Olympics Mt Baker in the front the islands, sailboats... ( thinking of Thomas) >.. then the sunset on the road home... the sun behind me, the moon in front.. the sky in front of me was like a stairway to heaven.... 1st layer turquoise, 2nd layer pink, then powder blue on top... :-) the mountains turned a gold-pink hugh ! how glorious can it get. !         hard to take a picture of something like that'' you have to experience it. Thank you for a wonderful day.
