Laura Just left for the ferry. Rob, our wonderful neighbor picked her up on Friday and offered to take her back today. He is such a wonderful soul. Alas he is off tomorrow to spend the Christmas Holiday with his mother in Portland and also help her through some eye surgery.

What a wonderful time it was to have My Love here to share the intimacy of mother's care. During the weekend mother slept most of the days but had quite restless nights. None of us got much sleep and we never got up before noon. Mother always stayed in bed into the late afternoon. So most of the precious sharing took place at night, trying to make/keep mother as comfortable as possible.

I attempted to adjust meds and find other comfort measures to get mother to sleep. Then I realized that I just need to go with the flow this week and sleep when she sleeps. There is no sense trying to press her into a regular routine. Her world is different now and when she is called she needs to sleep. When she needs comforting I need to hold her hand. and so it shall be.

Laura's love and adoration for Oma and her total and joyful participation in this adventure has been a huge blessing in this magical time. It is truly Laura's love through me and my love combined that are providing this unconditional care for mother.

On a beam of light,
Thomas
