Dearest Oma
Thank you so much for sharing with us today at Pritchard Road
in Cowichan Bay. From our meeting, Rita feels very much that
this is time for an increase in energy and perhaps a bringing
together of an even greater way of working in the field of Reflexology,
in terms of the angelic realms and the saying "when two or more
come together in my name then so shall it BE"!
Bless you and looking forward to spending more time with you,
when the time is as it needs TO BE!
With peace, joy, light and love
Rita xx

Dear Oma, ( my children call my mother OMA too, and she too
is a healer)
I think you web site is highly intelligent and that you must
be producing some good results with reflexology. My sister has
bone cancer, at the base of the skull, down her back and in
her pelvic bones. This is her third occurence, the first was
a breast and the second was ovarian/hysterectomy. The first
was treated by stem cell chemo. The second was the hysterectomy
and now she has completed 10 days of radiation and will face
chemo from the middle of next month.
I am a believer of reflexology, as I have used it on my husband,
daughters and mother, however, the corresponding areas on my
sisters feet are very painful when I carry out any reflexology.
I seem to be putting her through more pain. Am I doing the right
thing by applying pressure to the spine/back/neck corresponding
areas on her feet, and causing pain?
I know you run a paid service but I would appreciate some guidance.
Yours in the only web site that provided some intelligent information.
Thank you.
sincerely
Simran

DEAREST OMA,
CONNECTING WITH YOU, IS A MAJOR TURNING POINT IN MY LIFE.
SPENDING A WHOLE DAY IN YOUR PRESENSE IS SUCH A BLESSING TO
ME, AND A GIFT TO MYSELF FROM MY AUNT IDA, WHOM I NOW KNOW AS
MY ANGEL, AS SHE PASSED ON IN SEPT. AT THE AGE OF 87, SHE TAUGHT
ME SO SO MUCH, AND HAD GIVEN ME THE AMARICAN $ THAT MADE IT
POSSIBLE FOR ME TO SPEND A FULL DAY WITH YOU, SWEET OMA.
YOU TRULY ARE AN INSPIRATION TO ME, YOU HAVE PAVED A GREAT PATH,
THAT I WILL ENJOY TO FOLLOW.
WE DO NOT NEED TO REINVENT THE WHEEL, WHEN THE UNIVERSE CONNECT
US, AND A WILLING HEART IS APPLYED, THEN THE WHEELS KEEP TURNING,
THERE IS A DEVINE PLAN, ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TO SAY YES.
WE SAT IN SILENCE AT CHURCH AT 11AM AND PRAYED FOR PEACE AND
WAS ASKED TO DO THAT EVERY DAY AT 11AM FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR,
KNOWING IT WILL BRING POSITIVE CHANGES.
GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.
YOUR SISTER IN SPIRIT
EILEEN

Dear Oma,
Such gratitude I have held in my heart for the blessing of coming
to know you and what you stand for!!!! My life and the lives
of countless others, have been enhanced through your sharing.
In recent months we have communicated about several friends
I know who were fighting the battle against dis-ease. In the
past month two of these friends passed on. What I want to share
with anyone who might need the extra nudge into believing and
living your message and the healing power of LOVE is that this
is true.
Richard was one of my friends who passed in the last month.
He was diagnosed with cancer a mere four months prior to his
passing. Recently I received a letter that expressed Richards
feelings as he faced the battle with cancer. The one message
that resonated throughout his letter was LOVE. His gratitude
for the outpouring of love that fell upon him everyday, from
so many people. He said that before he became ill, he never
knew so many people loved him ....nor had he known he was loved
so much. My heart ached...how could he have not known this?
He went on to share that it was this LOVE that gave him the
will to live and the strength to fight the battle.
LOVE is powerful!!!! Imagine what a difference it would make
if we made known the love we have in our hearts for others as
we experience it. If we made it a practice to demonstrate this
love daily without thought to why or whether or not there was
a reason in place to do so. Why do we wait for the ones we love
to take ill or leave the planet before we find it within ourselves
to open our hearts and beings to them in sharing our LOVE for
them? It is not a commodity we will ever run out of...the more
we give love ~ the more we are filled with love!!! The word
love need not ever pass our lips to be shared and known...as
Oma shares in her website, love is an energy we send to others
through our thoughts and intentions. Love is best when shared....when
we open our hearts to receiving the love of all that is within
and around us... this is when love can be most powerful. Whatever
the obstacle remember to put LOVE first ~ and to give LOVE freely
without having a reason to do so.
Oma, I am so grateful for you and your message ~ for your strength
and courage in sharing. Such an inspiration you are!!!!
GODS LOVE BE WITH YOU ALWAYS ~
LOVE,
Cammie Grace

I just noticed the concern expressed in an entry in Oma's guestbook
about the note she wrote on the National Anthem. It is clear
that the writer was quite concerned. Knowing Oma the way I do
I thought I would try and offer some perspective to all reading
these pages.
All summer long every time I visit Oma she takes me to the colors
ceremony at Roche Harbor. There from early spring to late fall
she stands with her hand on her heart proud to pay her respects
to this wonderful country she calls home. She loves the way
the color guard marches in unison and so respectfully fold the
flag of the United States of America.
Now in her 79th year Oma has seen a lot and certain experiences
bring back memories. Having lived through the second world war
she remembers her eldest son being frightened of thunderstorms
when he was a little boy because during the first two years
of his life that sound wasn't thunder it was bombs exploding
all around him. She remembers trying to protect him, first from
the bombs and later form the memories of war.
When she hears the national anthem of the country she loves
so much, talk about bombs exploding she does not connect it
with the fight for independance as the writer did. Maybe she
doesn't know enough about American History to do that. She connects
it with her own experience of women and children dying in the
streets.
Oma knows America stands for more than bombs. She often told
me the story of how it was an American Soldier who saved my
brother's life by sharing his rations to keep her son from starving.
Isn't it interesting how we all see things through the lenses
of our personal experience.
Oma has told me that she has asked her web master to remove
her note from her pages. She does not wish to offend anyone.
She never intended to express any disrespect. She just prays
that the people of the world will learn to live in peace.

Hello,
After reading your notes on the National Anthem, I sit here
at my computer in a state of shock. How can you possibly be
offended by a song that depicts the way our country was founded??
I don't believe that the verse you were referring to "the bombs
bursting in air", means that war is all we stand for, however
graphic it may be. It's simply a song that tells a story of
our forefathers' bravery and commitment to found one of the
greatest countries in the world. I agree " America the Beautiful"
is a pretty song that tells just how nice our landscape is,
but that's all. Also, the "Cananian National Anthem" is another
"pretty" song, but if you like theirs more than ours please
move there and stop trying to change something that's been a
part of our everyday life for 200+ years.
Thanks,
Tye

Another visit filled with joy and love is recorded in the memory
of our soul.
Yesterday, while we were waiting for the floor wax to dry on
the hardwood floor Oma and I went to County Park on the west
side of the island. It is one of our favourite places to walk
and this time of the year the blackberries are plump and sweet
(well most of them) so we get sidetracked once in a while from
our walk and our song to enjoy this abundant fruit.
After our walk we sat on the bench by the ocean and watched
two freighters come and go on their way to and from Vancouver.
We also noticed a family of seals playing with the tourists.
When the tourists were waching they would hide but when they
were busy posing for pictures the seals would surface behind
them, out of sight and watch them.
We also watched a Haron land on a floating log that drifted
with the tide towards us. We were still as could be but soon
the Haron decided she was getting too close and flew off to
land on another log. She repeated this trip three times while
we were there.
A cormorant also joined us and paddled hard against the current
finding it preferrable to actually lifting off in flight. The
little birds all around us in the pine trees had no trouble
with flight though, they jumped from branch to branch and tree
to tree to sample the fresh seeds in the pine cones. First time
ever I actually watched a bird eat the seeds in the cones while
they were still on the trees.
After about an hour of taking in the clear see air, Oma decided
to walk another lap around the park (and sample a few more berries)
before we headed back to the cottage. The floor was dry and
after dinner I could move the furniture to complete the last
section.
It is such a blessing to be here with her once in a while and
help her carry on her life's work. In a time of world crisis
it is truly a comfort to be surrounded by Oma's love.
Her Son
Thomas

After many years away from natural healing (not personally but
professionally), I am beginning to make changes in my life that
will allow me to follow this path as vocation as well as avocation.
I have finally found a way that the world-wide-web can be of
use, other than chatty letters to family and friends.
Thank you for being so forthcoming and sharing of your experiences
and ideas. It is my experience that the basis of all natural
healing (from the practitioner) is heart based generosity of
spirit. You exemplify that spirit.

Hi, I would like to be able to use reflexology in my bussiness
but there is no school around here that I can attend.
I found a distance school on the internet. It is called Universal
College of Reflexology. Have you heard of this school? Can you
recommend this school? I have studied your video and read books
on the subject but the respect is not there unless one has a
certificate stating that one has studied the subject. Frankly
I do not blame people on this.
Please if there is any advise that you can share with me it
would be very much appreciated. Thank you and may God bless
you.

This answering Sandy about teaching reflexology.
So you like to teach reflexology classes but do not know how
to fill the hours.?? If you know
your subject there will never be enough time to teach it. I
taught at the City College Adult
Education, I gave workshops, all involved theory and hands -
on.
Teach system by system. Learn to treat the whole person not
a symptom and teach that to your students.
Different counties require a different number of hrs of training
from 200 to 350 or even 500 hrs. This includes also practical
clinical application under supervision..
So if you have a praxis, let your students work there with
you and have them make a report for each case they have been
working on. I advise you to get in Contact with the American
Reflexology Certification Board

Oma is our new neighbour. To introduce herself and her work
Oma did offer us a Reflexology session in the OMA METHOD. At
first we were not sure what we were getting into.
But right after the first session I felt so much better, peaceful
and relaxed that I decided to have regular treatments. so does
my husband. He has the most sensitive feet, just the thought
someone touching them makes his feet feel ticklish. The first
session was very "grueling" for Oma and Terry. Evenstill at
the end of the first session he confesses that his feet felt
wonderfully warm. Now he is able to lay calmly in each session
and he does not snore, which is a great relieve for me, so I
can sleep.
At first we noticed that Terry did not snore for the whole
night.. Now after he had a few treatments he does snore less
and less, 3 peaceful nights in a row and we are sure the snoring
will stop all together.
Now with each session with Oma there is a very notable improvement
in my condition as well
I have more energy, am not as irritable as I was, no cramps
or pain and the intense symptoms of PMS have totally vanished.
My husband Terry and I will certainly continue to take advantage
of Oma's treatments and her presence on our Island.

Greetings Krista.
You might have delivered already, I was off Island and did
not get your question sooner.
Reflexology is not a simple, mechanized push-buttom treatment.
Much has to be considered, tempo, rythm, pressure duration considering
the mental and physical condition etc. etc. Pregnant woman are
treated in a special tender, loving manner and they respond
well to the treatment.
Delivery and involution of organs in the puerperium are usually
problem free and spontaneous after appropriate Reflex Zone massages
to the feet. The period of lactation may also be prolonged by
proper treatment.
Pregnancy treatment requires specialized training. There is
a point in the plantar (under) area of the big toes to be treated.
But you might understand, dear Krista, that I can not give you
just direction to a point..
Find a reflexology Therapist near by and attend regular sessions.
I wish you and your child the very best. I would love to be
able to give you some personal instruction and treatments. Perhaps
you can come on vacation to our paradise.
Blessings OMA

I will be teaching reflexology in the near future and I would
like any type of information or instructions on how to lead
a class for 4 to 6 hrs. I know that I will start out on giving
the history and the health reasons to the class. This will be
an introductory class and when the students are interested in
going futher , I will give them an intensive. In our town they
need at least 200 hrs. to become a reflexologist. I am also
a Reiki Master and a holistic health practitioner along with
being a massage therapist. Sandy

I read your article with interest, especially that of introducing
the teaching of reflexologt as part of personal education.
I have spent some time in Beijing where I have studied under
Prof.Hang Xiongwen founder of the China reflexology Ass. During
the revelution he was sent out to be come a 'barefoot doctor'
and was amazed to see the families using massage of the feet
to maintain health.
The methods were passed from the elders to the children. The
pracice was done daily, on these 'magic mirrors' giving you
a reliable 'doctor' at home.Love your feet and you will have
a love of life and the health to enjoy it.
Although I live and teach Holistic Studies in N. ireland my
family are living in USA and I have spent a summer in the San
Juan Islands, a paradise in its own right.
Thank you,

I am 22 and have just begun the journey into bodywork. I am
going to massage school next month! I am so excited about this.
I found your sight very interesting. I have been interested
in reflexology ever since I experienced it myself in Thailand.
I plan on moving to WA in a few years and would love to go to
one of your retreats. I've been to Friday Harbor before, and
it is beautiful! I would love to return!
Good Health to you and God bless!

I have six toes on my left foot. Starting from the big toe,
each toe looks better than the previous one. My smallest toe
is pretty hideous, so you can image what my big toe looks like.
I have been featured on such shows as "Emmitt's World" and "Shock
the Nation." I think reflexology is a good thing but it's hard
to find a reflexologist who will do it. Once a reflexologist
asked me to leave and I could hear her vomiting as I was closing
the door behind me.

Best wishes from one reflexologist to another.
This year I have Moss Arnold from Australia coming to Leicester
to teach a 7 day diploma course on Chi Reflexology.
This is based on SEDATING over-active parts of the body i.e.
lungs with asthma etc. At a seminar in London last year he answered
many of my reflexology questions re foot-charts etc. and I am
getting good results with the little I did learn on the course,
including the opening of the Ankle Gate and the Meridian Balancing
Sequence.
Best wishes

Dearest Oma,
I AM so very happy the angels have been encamped about you as
you stride (literally) towards recovery. We know prayer changes
things. Thomas is an excellent facilitator as are all the prayers
sent up in your behalf. I have been diligently working as God
leads me on (our) licensing. I have been before the Police Commission
and shall go before them for a vote before the ordinance goes
to the City Council. I start a new job Monday (March 5) Thank
you Jesus, Thank you Lord! It is not reflexology yet, but that's
coming in God's time not mine. Leroy and the children are fine.
It has been a challenging time, but I know God has a comforter
in times of test. How can we have a testimony (testimonial)
without having passed a test? My father was in the hospital
(he has emphysema) and I did foot reflexology with castor oil
packs on his feet. Well, you know he is home. I will keep you
apprised of the happenings with our ordinance. I love you and
would you please send me your phone number again. In the move
I cannot seem to find it. Peace and Blessings, Love and Light
-- Cheryl

Dear, Omar, and anyone else. I am a student at Chiles Highschool.
I write for the newspaper, and so far just do the horoscopes.
I am looking to start a new section, that deals with many things.
I would like to write an article about Foot Reflexiology. I
know a little. The few books I have, do have pictures, and thats
what I am looking for. I could use a picture, (perhaps some
of you have drawn one, or what not) that shows the foot, and
the diffrent sections, I would like to inform the readers of
the newspaper a few things.
1st.- what Foot Reflexiology is.
2nd.- How it can help them
3rd- How to start, a few basic techniques
4th- provide a few sketches or picture, or what not, that would
help them realize the diffrent points of the foot.
If you could help it would mean a lot.
please e-mail me at

THANKS AGAIN

Helping Oma with her hip replacement.
I thought I would post an update for all those interested.
Oma is a very determined woman and while her spirit is what
keeps her going it can also pose quite the challange when one
has to confront its stubborn nature. Hip replacement is a major,
albeit highly successful, surgery. My objective was not only
to be there with her through her hospital stay but to coach
her through the recovery and rehabilitation. The first 24 hours
after surgery are critical as that is when the adhesive hardens
and after mother awoke from her morphene stupor and in her disoriented
state decided to head for the door the night after her surgery
I thought it best to spend the nights with her at the hospital.
Nursing staff was great but they have a lot of patients to keep
track of and I did not want to take any chances.
My sister Gaby came up from LA to assist in the round the clock
care and also provided a comfortable car for the trip home on
the ferry after 4 days in hospital. Before surgery we were introduced
to the physiotherapy that would be required and I became Oma's
coach. Once home we started a regimen of excercises three times
a day and a careful meal plan that would keep her blood sugar
in line. The local senior's center had a hospital bed they lent
us so Mother was able to partake in Christmas festivities wile
perched in her bed in the middle of the living room. Sonja and
Laia came from Duncan, Laura came from Sidney, Birgit from Seattle
and Gaby stayed over Christmas as well. It was quite the celebration.
Now it has been over two weeks since the surgery on the 18th
and we just returned from the first post op visit with the surgeon.
Mother's incision has healed flawlessly and her hip is perfectly
positioned. Continuous diligence in watching her movements will
prevent a rather unpleasant dislocation during recovery and
a continued excercise regimen will increase her strength. As
it is, Oma is allready able to walk without her walker at times
and often chases me around the dining room table (her walking
track).
I am greatful for having had the opportunity to spend this time
with her and guide her through this procedure. I believe it
will give her new vigour in pursuing her ambitions and I expect
her to be in full form yet once again in a month or two.
